Wilson Evolution Basketball 29.5” Official Indoor Game Ball Black Composite Lea
Description:
Wilson Evolution Basketball 29.5" Black Edition – The #1 Indoor Game Ball in America
The Wilson Evolution Basketball is the most trusted indoor game ball in America, used on more courts than any other basketball. This 29.5-inch Black Edition delivers the signature soft feel and exceptional grip that players at all levels have relied on for decades. From high school gyms to NCAA arenas, the Evolution is the standard for competitive indoor play.
Every part of this ball is engineered for performance — from the Cushion Core that absorbs impact for a softer touch, to the composite pebbled channels that create consistent texture across the entire surface. The result is a ball that feels broken-in from the first bounce, making it easier to control on passes, dribbles, and shots.
Why Choose the Wilson Evolution?
- Signature Evo Feel — The soft, spongy Cushion Core is what makes the Evolution famous. It's softer to the touch and easier to grip around the rim compared to balls with stiff cores.
- Superior Grip — Thousands of micro-pebble touchpoints and composite pebbled channels provide unparalleled control, keeping your hands locked on the ball during intense play.
- Advanced MicroFiber Composite Leather — Delivers a uniquely soft feel that players love, with exceptional grip and long-lasting durability that holds up all season.
- Cushion Core Technology — A sponge-like core that absorbs impact, making the ball easier to control and softer on your hands during long practice sessions.
- Composite Pebbled Channels — Channels are pebbled instead of smooth, creating a consistent texture over the entire surface for unmatched control and ball handling.
- NFHS Approved — Approved for play by the National Federation of State High School Associations, making it the official choice for high school competition.
- Indoor Use Only — Optimised for indoor courts and gym surfaces, where the soft composite cover performs best.
- Official Size 7 (29.5") — The standard size for men's high school, college, and professional play.
- Trusted by Champions — The preferred basketball in high schools nationwide and the official ball of NCAA March Madness (Evo NXT variant).

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Wilson Evolution approved for high school games?
Yes. The Wilson Evolution is NFHS approved (National Federation of State High School Associations), making it the official ball for high school competition across the United States.
Can I use this ball outdoors?
No. The Evolution is designed for indoor use only. Its soft composite leather cover is optimised for gym surfaces and will wear down quickly on outdoor courts. For outdoor play, we recommend a dedicated outdoor basketball.
What is the Cushion Core?
The Cushion Core is a sponge-like core that makes the ball softer to the touch and easier to control compared to balls with stiff cores. It absorbs impact and provides the signature "Evo feel" that players love.
What is the difference between the Evolution and the Evo NXT?
The Evolution is the standard NFHS-approved indoor game ball. The Evo NXT is the NCAA March Madness official game ball, featuring micro-touch composite leather and extended range technology. Both use the Cushion Core, but the NXT has a slightly different cover and is the official ball of the NCAA tournament.
What size is this basketball?
This is Size 7 (29.5 inches), the official size for men's high school, college, and professional play. Size 6 (28.5") is the women's official size, and Size 5 (27.5") is the youth size.
Is this the Black Edition or the Orange?
This listing is for the Black Edition. The Evolution is also available in the classic orange/brown colourway, which is the traditional game ball look.
What inflation level should I use?
Inflate to 7–9 PSI for optimal performance. Over-inflating will make the ball too hard and reduce the soft feel.
Is this ball used in the NCAA tournament?
The Wilson Evolution is the #1 indoor ball in America and is used widely in high school and college play. The Evo NXT is the official game ball of NCAA March Madness. Both are part of the Evolution family.
